Are You Ready?

Hip Hop and Rap have changed a lot over the past couple of decades. The sound and subject matter is constantly evolving and not necessarily for the best. Now-a-days, the majority of rap and hip hop played on the radio and tele lacks depth. Half the time the subject matter makes it sound like a 3 minute long commercial for a car or jewelery and the rest of the time it's either an egotistical rant or a play-by play of how he's gonna fuck a girl. Luckily, there still are a few mainstream rappers and underground/indie rappers/labels, like EVER READY RECORDS, that keep it real and put out music that has substance and is worth while. Ever Ready is a fairly new indie label out of West L.A. With the release of a new mixtape, 'That Old Gang Of Mine' and a couple of great performances from San Fran to SD, E.R. has really blown up onto the underground scene. They have a great line up of artists, each with their own individual style. The beats are really catchy and the lyrics are good. All and all, they make very, very good music, stuff that you can nod your head to and dance to. I like to call it feel good music. I picked up a copy of 'That Old Gang Of Mine' and i have to say that it's one of the best Hip Hop albums i've hard this year. I really advice you folks to get yourselves a copy at http://www.erstore.bigcartel.com/. The duo MK ULTRA have just released their first album 'First Of Forever' which you can download for free at http://usershare.net/bgnf31xfagpb. Check out there Facebook and Myspace pages to listen to there music. Their live shows are proper epic so keep track of that too.

The guys over at E.R. also run a great blog about the indie hip hop scene and of other stuff around Los Angeles.
