i like wearing Vans with no socks.

Even someone that lives in a cave in south east Asia would know that the second 'Twilight' movie came out. It's a trip how hyped this movie was. It's an effing vampire love story. Not that i dont like vampires, but this is a stupid romance movie (in my opinion). When one of the characters has to be half naked through out the entire movie then there really isnt any substance involved. Anyways, the point i'm tryna make is, that it's really sad that something like this is taken so seriously and given so much importance by a lot of folks in our society. And it's scary how the cast of this movie are given an idolic status by so many. I'm not saying that you shouldn't have any enthusiasm towards movies, nor am i saying that you shouldnt admire the work of an actor/actress. But it shouldn't be overdone like it is. Walk into any book store and you'll find a ton of books about the actors in 'Twilight'. It's a trip how much media attention they're given, magazines, t.v. shows, even the news has reports on them. Dunno if this is true or not, but i heard the people camped out in Westwood a week before the premiere just to try and meet the cast and that people are getting 'Twilight' themed tattoo's. They're just actors in a make belief story and they're given so much importance and precedence in our society. It's pathetic, sad, and scary. People that really make a difference and issues that are of actual importance are barely given any precedence or in some cases none at all, but if Robert Pattinson ate at McDonalds the whole world has to know. I've never understood why award shows like the Oscar's are televised but the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony isn't. And i've never been able to wrap my head around shows like TMZ, Access Hollywood, ET, and Extra. It's completely unnecessary to have this many celebrity themed shows and for them to have as much air time as they do. There is nothing of substance on these shows, yet they report about Hollywood and celebrities with so much urgency and precedence, it's like something catastrophic was about to happen. I bet the same folks that camped out a week for the 'Twilight' premiere wouldn't even go to a political or social protest for an hour. People in our society are so reluctant to engage and immerse themselves in the issues and events that actually are of importance. They rather know what happened to Lindsay Lohan then know how the proposed health care bill will effect us. And it's this ignorance that has caused many of the problems our country faces now. It's this ignorance that has allowed the government and corporations to continually screw us over. I cant really remember the point i'm tryna make so i'm just gonna get to the music now. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and Eid.

Ms. Oprah, i think even God watches your show.

This stripper on t.v. is really hot. Too bad the stupid D-T.V. connection sucks. The screen continuously cuts out and i cant get a good look at her face or her boobs. Bummer. I dont get why we had to switch from basic antenna t.v. to this, especially when it just makes the reception worst and more annoying. At least before you could fiddle with the antenna a whole bunch and eventually get reception but with D-T.V. i can never pick up any signal. Some times, no matter how much i move the antenna i cant get any signal strength. When half the channels work the other half dont. I figured technology was supposed to make things easier. Dunno if any of you used to watch 'Arthur' on PBS, but this reminds me of Francene's t.v. She only got 3 channels, the third one only if she put the antenna on her head an danced.
I'm not gonna post the second installment of music video's from the L.A. Film Festival tonight. I'll save that for the next post. Tonight it's just gonna be some 'randoms'.

I stumbled upon this movie a couple nights ago. It was supposed to be released in theaters but the studio that owned it went bankrupt, so now it's straight-to-dvd release. Bummer, 'cause it's a great movie. I can really see this becoming a cult hit. Has a great cast, it's funny, and pretty outta wack.

"Newport, we've got the pedigree to have the best waves in all of California."

A few people have told me to blog about this so i'm gonna go ahead and tell you about the debacle that took place last Tuesday. I went surfing at Venice Pier. Since i don't drive i have to bus it there and carry my wetsuit and towel in my backpack. I got to the pier and changed, putting my wallet, keys, phone, clothes, and vans in my backpack. Like always, i leave it right on the shore where i can see it from the lineup. The waves were pretty shitty but i still had fun surfing. I'm just super happy to be back in the water. So, i get outta the water and my backpack's not there anymore. Only my towel is there. I spend a good hour asking everyone at and around the pier if they've seen "a black jansport backpack that's kinda bulky." Nothing comes of it. I walk over to Breakwater to see if anyone i know is at the skate park but no one is. This is when i realize that i'm in a dilema. I only have 2 numbers memorized, one of my cousin who had a test at school and the other of my friend who lives in Irvine. Then it hits me that my spare key is with my homie, DK. Now, DK doesnt always have his celly on him so i have to get to a computer and facebook him. This wasn't the bad part. The bad part was that i had to walk 2 and a half miles from the beach to my godbrothers at 3 p.m., in my wetsuit, carrying my board. As soon as i passed Lincoln it became kinda embarrassing. I felt like a lost tuna. Like a displaced sardine. I just walked as fast as i could with my head down. It sucked when i had to wait to cross street. The worst was when i had to walk past Venice High. School had just gotten out and there were hundreds of kids staring at me. Literally, hundreds. Your prolly wondering why the hell i didnt i just get on the bus. I tried to, the bus drivers wouldn't let me with my wetsuit on. I finally make it to my godbrothers house, facebooked DK, ate some food, cancelled my debit card, and got a hold placed on my phone service. My aunt gave me a ride home and DK was kind enough to drop my key off. It was a long day, but it makes for a good story.

I'd like to thank x 100 DK , Zahra Khala, and Uncle Mark for helping me out.

Today i'm gonna start a series of posts on the music videos that were chosen for this year's L.A. Film Festival. I've seen some of them and they're very unique and interesting.

"Miiiiddle Adem, Miiiiiddle!"

You folks have prolly figured this out, but I really have no idea what to type here. I really just type to give the blog some flavor, keep it from being bland. I try my best to make it interesting but i have no idea what people would enjoy reading here. My idea of interesting isn't always on par with what other folks might find interesting. Anyways, Halloween just passed. It's kinda funny, being Muslim i don't celebrate Christmas so Oct. 31st is the most festive day of the year in L.A. for me. The city really, really, comes alive. House parties, clubs, events and of course trick or treating. It's awesome. My Halloween was pretty odd, but awesome none the less. I went trick 'r treating with some kids and two of the Ninja Turtles. Then i morphed into a Demon Chicken. I watched the Turtles battle each other. After that i hung out with a stray cat for an hour. Then it got really hazy. I lost my clapper gun. I looked for my clapper gun but didnt find it. I kicked it with Mathew McConaughey. My friends and i went to an empty backyard and i danced to no music.
I met up with Matthew again. We ran into Jason at an In N Out. He tried to kill Matt.
Matt and i kicked it at a park. Then we ran into two sombrero wearing cowboys outside
of a 7-11 in Newport Beach and gave them a ride home. I got home at 3:30 am and didnt
even get in trouble the next morning. I cant wait till next Halloween.

J. Cole - From North Carolina by way of Germany. He went to university in NY to pursue music. Signed to
Jay Z's Roc Nation label. He is the next BIG THING in hip hop.

Ac Slater - producer/DJ outta Brooklyn. He incorporate a lot of different genres into his songs. I saw him
spin at Danceism this august. He mixed dub step into old school hip hop. It was pretty epic.
Moby - The Stars (Ac Slater rmx) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4frpWWc0LYs
Steve Angello & Laidback Luke - Show Me Love (AC Slater rmix) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVEYvMz4Nds

Trevor Hall - amazing guitarist and songwriter. you should know about him but if you dont, listen to his lyrics.

It's freezing cold at Coffee Bean so there's not gonna be any 'randoms' tonight. And btw, thanks for checking out the blog. - Humza
