Mop Top/Salad Bowl

Good Morning/Afternoon/Night depending where and when you read this. Hope you folks had a great weekend. Tomorrow is the first day of June which means summer time in Los Angeles!!! Tomorrow also means there are only 10 days left till the World Cup so i figure it would make sense to copy and paste the origins of this monumental event from wikipedia.

Due to the success of the Olympic football tournaments, FIFA, with President Jules Rimet the driving force, again started looking at staging its own international tournament outside of the Olympics. On 28 May 1928, the FIFA Congress in Amsterdam decided to stage a world championship organised by FIFA.[8] With Uruguay now two-time official football world champions (as 1924 was the start of FIFA's professional era) and to celebrate their centenary of independence in 1930, FIFA named Uruguay as the host country of the inaugural World Cup tournament.

The national associations of selected nations were invited to send a team, but the choice of Uruguay as a venue for the competition meant a long and costly trip across the Atlantic Ocean for European sides. Indeed, no European country pledged to send a team until two months before the start of the competition. Rimet eventually persuaded teams from Belgium, France, Romania, and Yugoslavia to make the trip. In total thirteen nations took part: seven from South America, four from Europe and two from North America.

The first two World Cup matches took place simultaneously on 13 July 1930, and were won by France and USA, who defeated Mexico 4–1 andBelgium 3–0 respectively. The first goal in World Cup history was scored by Lucien Laurent of France. In the final, Uruguay defeatedArgentina 4–2 in front of a crowd of 93,000 people in Montevideo, and in doing so became the first nation to win the World Cup.

I found this channel on youtube which will have all the goals from this World Cup uploaded. So far it has all the goal's from the friendly's that have taken place recently.

Yo. Hope you guys are well. I know it's finals season for some folks right now, so best of luck to everyone who's being strangled by academics right now. Really quickly, a shout out to my parents and my baby sister. I miss you guys tons.
I spent Wednesday and Thursday in the Inland Empire. Surprisingly, it isnt as wack as i thought it'd be. And there's more there than just 909er's and desert. I was in Rialto and Riverside and there's a lot of culture there so if you're ever forced to go there dont dread it. I went to Pomona and Claremont too and those are two very happening places. Especially in the arts and music. A big thank you to Bhaji, Mushi Bhai, their parents, and Steve for having me over and showing me around.

It's what's obvious that i can never figure out for myself.

I've really been kinda stagnant lately. I'm sure you guys can tell from some of the previous posts. I used to be super motivated to move forward in life but for the past couple of months time has been passing me by while i just stand still in one place. I used to be very disciplined, my mom was big on it. And it's what got me to where i am in life. The thing is that i've been 'here' for some time now, and it's starting to be a lil too long. It's like i left discipline in the pockets of my other jeans and lost those jeans in the wash. A couple days ago i think i might've realized what's made me to be like this. Than again, this could be me just rationalizing to make sense of the present. I'm not sure. I've kinda been on this 'chapter' of my life since i was 7. Pretty much almost everything that's happened to me for the past 13 and a half years has been influenced by what happened when i was 7. And now i'm finally on the last page of this chapter, at the point where that influence is almost gone, where it's a completely clean slate, and to be honest i'm not sure if i'm ready to leave all this behind. It's the only thing i've ever known. i dont remember my life from before i was 7. It's not that i'm scared of what's to come, or of the unknown. I like surprises and anonymity. I think it's more that this chapter in my life means so much to me. It's made me who i am and i'm not sure how it would feel being me with out it. It's all that i know. I dunno if you catch my drift or not. I'm really just telling you this cause i dont have much else to share. When i dont type something up folks tell me i shouldve. All i really am is my thoughts. There's not much more to me than that. And the occasional laughter.
I wanna shout out the blog's international viewers. Especially from Mexico. Muchas gracias for your support!!!

Durrrty Laundry

I'm adding a new feature to the blog, called 'The Laundry Bin'. If for whatever odd reason you haven't noticed it yet, it's on the right corner of the home page. I'll be posting mixes from local and lesser known DJ's in TLB. The mixes will be of various genres but mostly electronic. Some of the mixes will be exclusive to this blog. I'm not sure how often i'll be putting up a new mix since that depends on the DJ's i'm gonna be working with. I'm also gonna add the tag 'laundry' to every TLB post so that it's easier for anyone to find older mixes.
The first mix in TLB is by my good friend DJ Yoshe. He's established in the Hollywood scene and it's only a matter of time before he goes global. For more go to http://www.djyoshe.com.

Eat a rabbit, shit a rainbow.

I dont have anything to share so im just gonna give you the history of Vans from wikipedia. Have a great week. Oh, shout out to everyone that came out to the Flyball this weekend! Happy Birthday Bhaji!!

On March 16, 1966, at 704 E. Broadway, in Anaheim, California, Paul Van Doren and three partners opened up their first store. The Van Doren Rubber Company was unique in that it manufactured shoes and sold them directly to the public. On that first morning, 12 customers purchased Vans deck shoes, which are now known as Authentic. The shoes which were made that day were ready for pick-up in the afternoon.

The company continued to grow into the 1970s. During this period they also produced wool lined canvas and rubber mukluks under contract to the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Air Force. Skateboarders who liked Vans rugged make-up and sticky sole were seen sporting Vans all over Southern California in the early 1970s. In 1975, the Vans #95, known today as the Era was designed by Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta. With a padded collar and different color combinations the Era became the shoe of choice for a generation of skateboarders. In 1979, Vans introduced the #44 shoe, and with the help of skateboarders and BMX riders the Vans Slip-On became all the rage in Southern California. By the end of the 1970s, Vans had 70 stores in California and sold through dealers both nationally and internationally.

As the 1980s rolled around, Paul Van Doren began to take a lesser role in the companies’ activities. Over this period, Vans started to create shoes for a number of sports from baseball, basketball and wrestling to skydiving in an effort to compete with large athletic shoe companies. Vans Slip-Ons gained international attention and appeal when they were worn by Sean Penn in the 1982, iconic youth film Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Although Vans core shoes were selling well, the wide range of products that the company now offered had drained the companies’ resources, and with Vans not able to overcome its debt they were forced to file for bankruptcy in 1983.

After three years, Vans had paid back all creditors and emerged from bankruptcy. In 1988 Vans original owners sold out to an investment banking firm. The company has been sold several times since; most recently for $396 million in 2004 to Greensboro, N.C.-based VF Corp. Steve Van Doren, the son of co-founder Paul Van Doren, is still with the company, as is his sister Cheryl and his daughter Kristy. Vans began manufacturing footwear overseas in 1994, allowing for development of new shoe styles.
