5 years ago i used to wonder where i'd be in 5 years. Now that i'm here i dont know what to make of it.

Kinda having trouble getting my thoughts together right now. I know what i wanna type about, just dunno exactly what point i'm trying to make. Or even if i'm tryna make a point. Or maybe i'm just stating the obvious. Dunno.

In life we're always tryna get to a certain 'destination', somewhere we'd like to be in our lives. And sometimes, we get so caught up in getting to where we wanna be that we miss out on everything that passes us by. Or everything that we pass by. It's like being on the bus and only looking straight ahead, through the front window, just worrying about getting 'there'. You end up of missing out on all the life that's taking place to your left and right. And maybe if you turn your head every once and again you'd see something that'da make you smile, like a girl or a dad chasing his kid. Or you'd learn something, like the name of a street or that 'lavanderia' means 'laundry mat'. Occasionally you'll see something that makes you get off the bus, it makes you forget about where you're tryna get to. After checking out that stop you might get back on the bus or you might realize that where you're going isnt really where you want to be after all. You might've found something better or just learned something about where you wanted to go.

I trip out on life. Often, the way it works leaves me itching my head with a raised eyebrow. The unexpectedness of it. I mean, you have it all figured out and then, out of the blue it switches up on you. It doesnt necessarily have to be big, drastic events. And it can be good and/or bad. I like that. It makes living a lot more interesting. Life's better with spontaneity. It makes me excited to find out where i'm gonna be in the future. At the same time though, i dont care about getting there. The bus ride there is so interesting that i dunno if i even wanna get there. But than again, you could say you never get 'there', that you're always going from one 'there' to another 'there'.

I still dunno what im trying to get to, but something minuscule yet really big (i know this is a contradiction of sorts) happened yesterday. It was bueno and unexpected, though i did plan on it happening eventually. It just happened unexpectedly and without me being involved. And the outcome was better than i'd pondered up. Just kinda tripped me out cause if you had asked a couple hours earlier i wouldve told you it wasnt gonna happen. It reminded me that life can surprise you in so many different ways.

If you cant already tell, it's left me stumped. Stumped like Paul Bunyan lol. Anyways, my brain hurts and i'm muy tired and mucho hungry. Have a great weekend.

The only thing the night's missing is the sun.

Sometimes, at night, i stay awake listening to music, wishing that the sun was out and i was on my bike with music blaring through my ears. It never happens but i find it weird that i love the night yet not the very thing that makes it what it is.

Couple of months back, i bought this book "Untitled." about street art as a counter culture. There's a haiku poem in the book that's been in my head since i first read it. Figure it's worth sharing.

First things first, an ANNOUNCEMENT - The name of the blog is changing to 'LAS PALMAS'. I'm doing this for a couple of reasons, mostly cause it's been floating around in my head for awhile now and cause the old name might be too long. The web address will remain the SAME. Now for the rest of the post.

Saturday, i went to watch 'Exit Through the Gift Shop'. It's a documentary featuring Banksy and other street artists about the world of street art, what it started off as and where it is now. It's really really bueno and has a nice lil twist to it. It's playing at the Landmark Theater at the West Side Pavillion and the Arclight in Hollywood. What was kinda kool was that i was prolly the youngest person in the theatre. Half the people there were over 45. Here's an extended trailer for 'Exit Through the Gift Shop'.

I guess Banksy was in L.A. for the movie's premiere cause right around that time he did two pieces here and another two in San Fran.

The first two are in SF and the last two are in L.A. The third one was on La Brea and 4th but the entire white slab's been removed by the owner. Bummer.

So big it's empty.

About last Saturday...in one word supermuchobueno. And no, that's not three words joined together nor is it cheating. I was at the Flyball last Saturday night. Actually, i'm the new doorman. First off, shout out to err one that showed up, especially Bhaji, Moshi Bhai, and the homies. You guy's might have read about this in an older post. For those of you that dont know what it is, it's this event that takes place on the third Saturday of every month. There are 3 areas, one outdoor, two indoor. Inside they play top 40/hip hop/classics/reggae, while upstairs there are live bands, usually indie and experimental and a live art gallery going on. Outside they have a dance mat set up and spin vinyl. That's where all the dancer's are at. Shit, i feel like i'm doing a promo for it. Anyways, i danced a whole bunch, met some beautiful ladies and hung out with the homies. The vibe there is great. Everyone is really laid back and welcoming. The next one is on May 15th. Come. It's Disneyland for grown kids.

A dose of discipline.

This past Saturday was Bakir's bday party. It was super muy mucho bueno bueno fun. A total fiesta from beginning to end. To those that were there, thank you for making it special. For those that werent, you missed out and you may want to start thinking about befriending Bakir, me, or any of the other homies. I swear, we throw the best bday parties (THANK YOU DANI BHAI). Now that i think about it, if you add the pre-party, party, after party, and after party hang out, we celebrated for 12 hours. Bakir and i lost our voices singing karaoke non stop for about 4 hours. We now know Avril Lavigne's 'Complicated' by heart. And you know what, there's nothing non-masculine about that. Bakir also gave the BEST speech ever. It had something to do with balls, i cant really remember. Towards the end of the party a velociraptor ran through the house and attacked a few of the guest. Luckily there were no casualties. At least none that were reported. It was a great night, with a lot of great people and a lot of good conversation. Shout out to the 4am Fish Taco Crew (LAMIJA, RAUL, KYLE, BAKIR) and shout out to my buddy's JOSHER and DAVIDB. It was bueno bueno seeing you two after so long.
